Detroit Don King at Dusty's

Detroit Don King
Detroit Don King

Blues in Nordeast on Friday, July 10 • 9 pm

The info on Don's web site calendar for this gig reads, "Have a cold beer and a sausage, egg and cheese dago sandwich with some blues." I caught Don's show in the Como Park Pavillion last week and have to believe that even though Dusty's dago might be good, Detroit Don King's blues are the real reason to check this out. The band features Don on guitar and vocals along with Dave "Cool Breeze" Brown - guitar/vocals, Doug Hill - drums, Dan Emerson - bass and Tall Pall - saxophone. Music starts at 9 pm. No cover charge. Dusty's is on the Map. — Jake Jacobson

T Albert Lloyd at Taste of Minnesota

Kicking Off the Music at Noon on July 2

This year's big attractions at Taste are Elvis Costello, White Snake, Judas Priest and Bret Michaels of Poison. Not a lot for the blues fans I'm afraid. But wait! The opening act for this whole sheebang is the T Albert Lloyd Band on the August Schell Stage at noon on Thursday, July 2. T will also be appearing at the Fargo Blues Festival on July 31 at 3 pm. So there is some hope for the Taste of Minnesota this year but you have to show up early on Thursday to catch the blues act. Admission at Taste of Minnesota is free until 3 pm. — Jake Jacobson
