Dean Weisser has been playing drums since he was six years old. The Dean Weisser Band songlist is comprised of highly dancable classic blues and rock tunes along with original material that has been described as "...old school meets new school." Along with Dean on drums and vocals are Neil Hendrickson on guitar and vocals, Matt Kalin on keys and vocals, Mark Johnson on bass and Katie Knudsen on vocals. Mark Williams
"Good Time Willy"

2006 IBC Band — Friday, April 3rd

How time flies. It seems like only yesterday that the Good Time Willy Band was performing on stage at Pat O' Brien's on Beale St in Memphis, TN as part of the International Blues Challenge. Alas, Pat O' Brien's on Beale St. is gone. A sign of the times? The really good news is that the Good Time Willy Band is still going strong! This Friday you can catch Mark Williams and the rest of the band at Neumann's in North St Paul. They also have upcoming gigs at Dean's Tavern, Muddy Waters, The Willow, Legends in St Cloud, the Blues On The Chippewa Festival and the Minnesota State Fair. Check their web site: www.myspace.com/goodtimewilly You can find Neumann's on our Blues Venue Map. — Jake Jacobson

Tough Economy Hits Home For Local Musician's Family

Billy Larson & Lisa Wenger
Billy Larson & Lisa Wenger

Benefit at O'Gara's Sunday, April 5 to Help Billy Larson & Lisa Wenger

Longtime local musician/club owner, Billy Larson and his wife, blues-singer Lisa Wenger are experiencing the hard realities of our current economic environment as they face the possibility of foreclosure on their home and the additional expenses involved in caring for Billy's mother who is suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. These factors combined with business related financial problems are threatening the survival of the family.

Brian Leighton of GB Leighton has organized a benefit concert to be held a O'Gara's Pub on Sunday, April 5, beginning at 5:00 pm to help the Larson family with some of their expenses. Musicians joining Brian will include Jody Hanks, Jay Bee & the Routine, Paul Mayasich, The Dean Weisser Band, The Lisa Wenger Band, Dave Burkart, Bobby Vandel and Mick Sterling.

Loan Workout Specialist, Santy King, will be on hand to provide information to attendees and other musicians who may be experiencing similar foreclosure issues. "This effort by this large group of Twin Cities musicians is simply payback for someone who has supported and participated in the Twin Cities music scene for multiple decades as well as someone who has hired hundreds of musicians in the 10 years of the Minnesota Music Café." — from Dean Weisser

O'Gara's is listed on our Blues Venue Map.
