At Schooner Tavern, May 16, 9pm - 1 am
The Everett Smithson Band will roll into Minneapolis at the Schooner Tavern this Saturday night from 9 pm to 1 am. The band has been on the road quite a bit lately touring throughout Northern Minnesota and around Wisconsin. This is a good chance to catch them before they head out on the road again to Iowa. This is a solid veteran band with Everett on harp and vocals, Kathy Smithson on washboard, accordian and vocals, Phil Schmid on guitar, Jeremy Johnson on drums and Billy Black on bass. Their repertoire runs the gamut from blues, to rock, to soul and a just hint of Patsy Cline. Schooner Tavern is on the Map. — Jake Jacobson

Detroit Don King Blues Band
Friday and Saturday at Ertè in Nordeast
The Detroit Don King Blues Band will be performing this Friday and Saturday nights, May 15 & 16, at Ertè Restaurant from 7 to 10 pm. The band features Don King-Guitar/Vocals, Dan Emerson-Bass, Doug Hill-Drums and Tall Paul from Chicago-Saxophone. Additionally this weekend Dave "Cool Breeze" Brown on guitar and Brian Glascock (former drummer for the Motels and Iggy Pop) will be joining the band. Detroit Don has a soulful voice and style reminiscent of BB King. Ertè Restaurant features both steak and seafood entrees. I'm also told the martinis at Ertè's Peacock Lounge are outstanding.
