E Sharp & the Tin Sparks

E Sharp and the Tin Sparks
E Sharp & the Tin Sparks

Monday, June 8th, 7:30 pm at the Eagles

The E Sharp & the Tin Sparks Band is a four piece blues band new to the Twin Cities music scene. They formed in 2008 with an interest in Delta- and Chicago- style blues influenced by: Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and Little Walter.

Band members include: Eric Kulig on Vocals, Harp, and Bass Guitar; Mark Grauman on Guitar, Resonator and Vocals; Martin Andrusiak on Guitar and Vocals; and Bruce Nerland on Drums.

Their energetic harp and guitar driven sound is focused on fun with a classic blues flavor. Check them out at the Eagle's Club #34 in Minneapolis on Mondays, May 11th, June 8th, and June 22nd. Other dates to be announced for the 2009 season. — from E Sharp & the Tin Sparks

So What's The Deal with This Band's Name?

A funny thing happened on the way to starting a new band. Originally the name selected for this band was "Blues Deluxe". That caught the attention of Dan Schwalbe who along with R.J. Mischo started a band by the same name back in 1984. That band became Rockin' Daddy & the Rough Cuts in 1993 and is still playing to this day. After learning about this, Mark Grauman and his bandmates apologized to Dan for not knowing that the name "Blues Deluxe" had already been used and agreed to change the name. After some deliberation they have settled on the name, "E Sharp & the Tin Sparks". — Ed. Note

Blues at Hell's Kitchen

Jinxbreakers at Hell's Kitchen

Jinxbreakers Saturday, May 9

The Jinxbreakers; Jon Pederson (guitar), Curtis Blake (harmonica), Dave Larson (drums), "Pee Wee" Fagan (saxophone) and Jonathon Gaetke (bass); will perform their "Left Coast Avant-garde Blues" at Hell's Kitchen this Saturday, May 9th from 8 to 11 pm.

Hell's Kitchen has moved into the space formerly occupied by Rossi's Blue Star on 9th St just south of Nicollet Mall. Boasting, "damn good food", dinner prices begin with sandwiches from $10, burgers at around $12, an 18 ounce N.Y. Strip Steak goes for $24 and, of course, Devil's food cake at $5. Check the Map. Parking is available above the club (Metro ramp, enter on 9th St.) for $5. Take the elevator to the lower level and the doors open right into the club. — Jake Jacobson
