New Kid on the Block: Casa Vieja

Pat Hayes
Pat Hayes — Santiago '07

Lamont Cranston Has Re-Occuring Date

St. Patrick's Day 2009, Lamont Cranston played at Casa Vieja, in St. Paul, from 3-7. They sounded great. It is a nice room, and they have a dance floor. Upon speaking with Pat and Bruce, while on their break, I learned that they plan to play there every 4-6 weeks. Their next gig there will be Fri., April 17th. There is an $8.00 cover, but if you are going to eat, it is just $4.00. Sitting in the bar is free (as far as I know), but you can not see the band from there. Casa Vieja is located at 2176, West 7th St., in St. Paul (See the Blues Venue Map). It is the old Parrish's Supper Club. (651-695-8206). They serve Mexican and American fare. I was told one of the chef/owners especially likes doing seafood. They have daily specials and happy hours. There is a seafood buffet on the weekends, and shrimp specials on Fridays. The drinks appear to be reasonably priced. — Roz Goldberg
