Cool Disposition @ Applewood Rustic Grille

Jumping In The Mudd Cover

Blues on Hwy. 13 in Burnsville, Sat. April 25

Located in the Town & Country Shopping Center in Burnsville, Applewood Rustic Grille has been booking blues acts for several months now. I've read mixed reviews on the food and service but the pictures of the Texan Burger and the Three Cheese Panini certainly look appetizing. But we're here for the music, right? Cool Disposition will bring their own brand of Chicago blues to Applewood this Saturday night at 9pm. Here's an opportunity for you to listen/dance to one of our fine local blues acts and pick up a copy of their newest CD, Jumping In The Mudd. I'm sure Dan, Mickey, Harold, Marty and Greg will be happy to sign a copy for you right there on the spot. Applewood Rustic Grille is on the Map. — Jake Jacobson

Mad Jack's Brings Music to Vadnais Heights

Blexrud & Paquette
Steve Blexrud & Craig Paquette

Steve Blexrud & Craig Paquette Duo this Friday

Thunderheads leader/guitarist/vocalist/songwriter, Steve Blexrud partners with his bandmate, Craig Paquette, vocal/rhythm and slide guitar for this duo gig at Mad Jack's in Vadnais Heights on Friday, April 17, 9 pm. to 1 am. Mad Jack's Sports Cafe has gone through a series of different incarnations over the past years. I heard Big George Jackson play there a few years back. I think it might have been Majors then. At that time the band played at the far end of the bar away from the dining area. There wasn't much of a crowd but the music sounded pretty good and the food was much better than the typical "bar food" that usually is associated with a blues music venue. Mad Jack's is on the Map. — Jake Jacobson

Willie Murphy/Roy McBride Poetry & Music

Readings By Writers at University Club in St Paul, April 21

Poet Roy McBride teams up with Willie Murphy to present works from their collaborative effort, Traffic. Originally recorded in 1986, the Traffic CD has just now been released after a duplicate master tape was found to replace the copy that was lost by the CD manufacturer. "The artistic truth of the poetry and music in this work is timeless. The political poems are more pertinent now than when they were first recorded."

The performance will be held in the Summit Room at the University Club, 420 Summit Avenue, St Paul at 7:30 pm. An optional dinner (reservations required) will be available at 5 pm. The performance is free and open to the public. For more info contact Carla Tollefsrud, carlat99@earthlink.net or 612-377-8345. — from Carla Tollefsrud
