Cedric Burnside/Lightnin' Malcolm

Lightnin' Malcolm
Lightnin' Malcolm

Juke Joint Duo at Palmer's Pig Roast, Jan. 22

Lightnin' Malcolm relates, "I remember I was 7 or 8, and the grown folks was parked out on the road listening to music and carryin' on. They put on a tape called Muddy Waters Greatest Hits, and when I heard that voice shootin' out of that speaker, I was shocked. I fell in love with it, and I promised myself then and there that if I grew up to be a man, I was gonna try to do that!".

Cedric Burnside
Cedric Burnside

When Cedric Burnside was 13 years old he began touring with his grandfather, R.L. Burnside, all around the world. He can be seen drumming beside Samuel L. Jackson in the movie Black Snake Moan, a tribute to Cedric's grandfather. Cedric is a talented drummer, singer and song-writer.

Together Cedric and Malcolm formed the "Juke Joint Duo" featuring high-energy blues steeped in the traditions and rhythms of Mississippi. These guys were great at the Deep Blues Festival last summer. This is a unique opportunity to catch two up-and-coming young bluesmen at a familiar West Bank watering-hole.

Also on the bill will be local artists Luther The Devil, The Brass Kings, Boom Boom Belam, Crankshaft, Cadillac & the Flats and Cornbread Harris. $5 cover, doors open at 6:00 pm, music starts at 7:00 pm. Palmer's is on our Blues Venue Map.
