2009 Deep Blues Festival Kick-Off

Smokestack & the Foothill Fury from Georgia along with Luther the Devil and "Sneaky" Pete Bauer will help to kick off the promotional campaign for the 2009 Deep Blues Festival to be held July 15-19. There is no cover for this event, great music and a raffle to help raise awareness and some seed money for this year's festival.

"Minneapolis based Luther the Devil is a 3 piece blues band rooted in the Mississippi Hill Country and Delta blues traditions, that also mixes in elements of punk and rockabilly to create their own unique sound. Since 2006, LTD has been bringing their music to the masses, playing everywhere from cramped corner bars to festivals. Defined by their riff-based grooves, LTDs smokey licks and pulsing rhythms are helping characterize the genre of punk-blues." — from LTD MySpace

Need to hear some rockin' blues and R&B before the Thanksgiving holiday frenzy? Armadillo Jump can fill that bill this Saturday night a Neumann's Bar in North St Paul from 9 pm to 1 am.

As an added treat, Minnesota Rock & Roll Hall of Fame saxophone player, Merlin "Bronco" Brunkow will be joining Armadillo Jump on stage. Oly's Duluth Pub Hosts Sunday Blues

Brandon Scott Sellner

Davina & The Vagabonds Nov. 23rd
Scottie Miller Nov. 30th

Oly's Duluth Pub, located in downtown Duluth, now offers live music on Friday nights and hosts the Sunday Night Blues every Sunday from 6 - 10 pm. Newly remodeled, Oly's has a very comfortable atmosphere with plenty of seating, a large dance floor, and a new stage. Brandon Scott Sellner will be playing at Oly's on Sunday, November 9th. Sellner made his debut in Duluth at the Sunday Night Blues last April, where he showed off his smoking hot guitar style. He has succeeded in building a large fan base in the Twin Ports, playing at "Rock the Block in Downtown Duluth" and "Bayfront Blues Fest", where he reportedly had the top CD sales for the weekend. With a play list that includes many original blues songs, as well as putting his own touch to songs by artists such as SRV, ZZ Top, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix, we proudly welcome this talented young artist back to the Sunday Night Blues.

Upcoming artists at Oly's include Lamont Cranston on Nov. 16th, Davina and the Vagabonds on Nov. 23rd and Scottie Miller on Nov. 30th.— submitted by Jenny Forrestal, GTCBMS Duluth
