Jinxbreakers at McMahon's St. Paddy's Day

4 pm-8pm The Butanes Play at 8pm

The Jinxbreakers, featuring harp player Curtis Blake and guitarist Jon Pederson will be playing the afternoon gig on St. Patricks Day at McMahon's Irish Pub starting at 4 pm.

Following the Jinxbreakers, Curt Obeda and the Butanes will play the evening set starting at 8 pm. Dominic at McMahon's has booked lots of local blues acts into the club since they have re-opened. Support live blues music and have a great St. Patrick's Day.

"Blues in the Night" at The Ordway

Debbie Duncan Featured Singer/Actress

The musical revue "Blues in the Night" starring Jamacia Bennett, Regina Marie Williams and local performer Debbie Duncan opened at the Ordway Center for Performing Arts McKnight Theater on March 14th and will run through May 18th.

The St Paul Pioneer Press review by Christy DeSmith described the play as "an imaginatively directed revue that boasts an impressive cast" and recommends that "Theatergoers who go for sexy singing and rich, buttery blues will be especially pleased."

Jay Walter & The Rectifiers

Blues Alive & Well at Neumann's

Neumann's Bar in North St Paul consistently books local blues bands. Saturday, March 8th Jay Walter & the Rectifiers heated the place up on a cold night. The band consists of Jay Walter on harp and vocals, Dan Schwalbe on guitar, Jack Taylor on bass and Marty Bryduck on drums. Special guests included Bronco on saxophone and the St Paul Winter Carnival Vulcans on flame-throwers.

Just a couple of doors down from the Post Office at 2531 7th St in North St Paul, Neumann's claims to be the "Oldest Bar In Minnesota". If you are looking for an intimate setting to hear the blues, this is it. The dance floor is small, the bandstand is small, the bar is small, the plaster Hamm's bear and the ambiance are big.
