The House Was Rockin' at MMC

Does Harold know how to throw a party or what? This year's version of the Blues Harmonica Bash at Minnesota Music Cafe on May 11th lived up to all expectations and then some. The crowd was entertained by some great harp men: Jay Walter, Steve Grosshans, Big George Jackson, Harold Tremblay, R.J. Mischo, Curtis Blake and Steve Vonderharr.

The house band consisted of Phil Schmid (guitar), Jeremy Johnson (drums), Billy Black (bass) and Bruce McCabe (keyboards). Guest musicians throughout the evening included Dan Schwalbe (guitar), Greg Beach (bass), Marty Bryduck (drums), John Franken (guitar), Mickey Bauer (vocals) and Bobby Vandell (drums). Jacquie "Lady J" Maddix from KFAI's Rollin' and Tumblin' Show also made a guest appearance. Hope I got everyone.

This event was co-sponsored by KFAI Radio Station, Minnesota Music Cafe and the Greater Twin Cities Blues Music Society. 10% of the money collected at the door went to GTCBMS. Thanks again to Harold Tremblay and everyone else who worked to make this evening a great success and a heck of a good time.

NOTE: As one local blues forum pointed out, "there were 200 photographers (maybe a million)" in the crowd for the Bash. Check the following sites for photos of the event:

Happy Birthday, Deb!

The gathering also served as a celebration of GTCBMS member Deb Hills' 50th birthday. Deb is a graphic artist who is helping the Society with various visual projects.

The GTCBMS holds Meet & Greet events at various venues throughout the year to help to spread the word about our Mission and to attract new members to the Society. If you have any ideas for future events or would like to volunteer to participate in one of these events, please contact us: info@gtcbms.org
