Fund Raiser @ Turtles
Blues Jam w/Willie Murphy, Friday, January 14
Minnesota has the unique distinction this year of sending three acts to the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN this February. Officially, Curtis Marlatt & the Kicks will be the GTCBMS representatives in the "band" category with Jeff Ray & Hurricane Harold as representatives in the "duo" category. But wait, there's more! Tom Hunter & Jon Gunvaldson will also being traveling to Memphis to represent the Sedalia Blues Society of Sedalia, VA as their "duo" act. The fact that another state is sending one of our acts to the IBC seems to me to be a further indication of the great wealth of musical talent that we are blessed with here in Minnesota. Tom and Jon will be holding an event to help them raise money for their trip to Memphis at Turtle's Bar & Grill, 132 First Avenue East in Shakopee on Friday, January 14 from 8 pm to 1 am. A silent auction will be held from 6:30 to 8 pm with a portion of the proceeds going to CAP Agency Food Shelf. Also participating in the jam will be Willie Murphy, Rick (Deacon) Wolfe, Patrick Allen, Keith Boyles and many more! Doors open at 6 pm. Suggested donation is $10. — Jake Jacobson
