Blues Harmonica Bash 2008 at MMC

May 11th — 6-10 pm

KFAI Radio's "Harold's House Party" and the Minnesota Music Cafe are sponsoring this all-star extravaganza again this year and have invited the GTCBMS to participate. R.J. Mischo, Big George Jackson, Steve Vonderhaar, Curtis Blake, Steve Grosshans, Jay Walter and Harold Tremblay will all participate in this year's Blue's Harmonica Bash on May 11th from 6 to 10 pm. at the Minnesota Music Cafe, 499 Payne Ave on the Eastside of St. Paul, 651-776-4699.

This should be a lot of fun. The cover charge is $7. 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Greater Twin Cities Blues Music Society. The house band will consist of Phil Schmid on guitar, Jeremy Johnson on drums, Bruce McCabe on keyboard and Billy Black on bass. Don't be surprised if a few guest musicians show up to sit in on this one.

Deep Blues Festival July 18-20

Discount Tickets Available to GTCBMS Members

The 2nd Annual Deep Blues Festival will be held at the Washington Co. Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo, MN on July 18-20. As a co-sponsor of the event GTCBMS members will be offered 3-day passes for $50. The regular price is $75 in advance and $90 at the gate on the day of the festival. If you are not currently a member of GTCBMS you can join now to support local blues music and enjoy the Deep Blues Festival for less than the regular cost of a 3-day pass to the festival.

This year's Deep Blues lineup will feature over 40 acts including 2001 International Blues Challenge Winner Richard Johnston, The Tarbox Ramblers, T-Model Ford, Charlie Parr, The Black-Eyed Snakes, Jimmy "Duck" Holmes, and many, many others. Also included is the FREE Deep Blues Film Festival which will present several blues related films including "Born In The Honey – The Pinetop Perkins Story".
