2010 Members' Appreciation Picnic Huge Success
No Rain, Lots of Folks, Great Music, Good Food
Boom Boom Steve V
[Slideshow From 2010 Picnic]
Over 100 people, members and non-members, showed up for the Greater Twin Cities Blues Music Society's Annual Picnic on Sunday, July 11 at Ken and Marilyn Zieska's home in Plymouth. Boom Boom Steve V & the Knockouts were the opening musical act with Steve Vonderharr, John Franken, John Schroder and Jordan Carlson. And, "Boy, Howdy", did they put on a show. Hurricane Harold & Jeff Ray, this year's Road To Memphis Duo winners, entertained the crowd in between sets. Vondy returned with a trio of himself, John Franken and "Good Time" Willy; a rehearsal of sorts for their upcoming engagement at Bayfront Blues Festival. The full band joined in to complete the set with Vondy leaping up onto the deck railing for the finale. A jam session followed featuring a number of local musicians including: Brad Davies, Curtis Marlatt, Paul Wigen, Don Blue, Charlie Blue, Jeff Miller, Don Hills, Baird Swan, Tim Reigstad, Doug Rude and Gary LeDoux. There was plenty of dancing, lots of food and a good time was had by all. Many thanks to our gracious hosts, Ken and Marilyn. What a perfect setting for a picnic. — Jake Jacobson

GOOT Fund-Raiser @ Blues Saloon, Jan. 10
Brandon Scott Sellner
Past Winners Help Brandon Scott Sellner
A "Get Out Of Town" fund-raising event will be held at Wilebski's Blues Saloon on Sunday, January 10, from 6 - 9 pm. Once again this year, past Road To Memphis Challenge winners are donating their time and talents to help send this year's GTCBMS representatives, the Brandon Scott Sellner Band, to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. Scottie Miller, Davina & the Vagabonds, John Franken, Boom Boom Steve Vonderharr, The Brothers Curtis, Cool Disposition, Good Time Willy Band and members of Rockin' Daddy & the Rough Cuts will perform along with Brandon's band. All monies collected go directly to the GOOT fund to help offset the Sellner band's travel expenses to the IBC competition in Memphis. A silent auction is also in the works. This has become a much anticipated annual event for the Blues Society where everybody is a winner. Especially the audience! $5 at the door, a bargain. For location, see our Map. — from Harold Tremblay
