Blue New Year's Eve Celebrations

It is not my intention to list all of the New Year's Eve celebrations going on around the Twin Cities, but I will mention a few. Certainly by now you have all heard about the "Bash" at the Ramada Mall of America in Bloomington (the old Thunderbird). I've been hearing about it since Halloween. The Lamont Cranston Band with Bruce McCabe, Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin' Altar Boys and the Everett Smithson Band will all be performing at this party.

The Curtis Marlatt Trio will be appearing along with Dorthy Doring at Roman Anthony's Restaurant in the Birch Lake Square, White Bear Lake Township. Kurt Jorgensen will be at the Minnesota Music Cafe. Wilebski's Blues Saloon is presenting a "New Year's Blues & Reggae Extravaganza" featuring Bernard Allison, Eric Gales and Ipso Facto. Big Toe and the Jam will be at The Narrows Blues Saloon. For those of you down Rochester way, Doghouse Jon & the Misbehavers will be at Ron's Place at the La Quinta Inn and The Sena Ehrhardt Band will be at WhiskeyBones's Roadhouse. Staying at Giant's Ridge in Biwabik, MN, you can catch the Paul Mayasich Band après-ski in the Lodge on New Year's Eve. Davina and the Vagabonds will be on Grand Ave in St Paul at Axel's Bonfire Grill. Pre-Rose Bowl Party in Wisconsin? Brandon Scott Sellner will be at Piggy's in LaCrosse.

So, there ya go. Those are the events that I found that most closely resembled the Blues on New Year's Eve. I can't believe that nobody hired Willie Murphy and the Angel Headed Hipsters for New Year's Eve. Have fun, be safe, don't let friends drive drunk! — Jake Jacobson
