The Minnesota Blues Society is sponsoring a solo/duo/band to participate in the "Youth Showcase" at the International Blues Challenge (IBC), Memphis in January 16-20, 2018.
Our local Road To Memphis "Youth Showcase" competition will be held in two stages:
- First, participants will be required to submit a CD, DVD, or YouTube consisting of three songs of your choosing. (Remember, this is a Blues competition.)
- Secondly, from these entries, the judges will pick up to 10 finalists that will be given the opportunity to compete in the "Live" Finals competition on May 21 @ TBA. Announcement of those finalists will be made on or before May 7, 2016.
We will hold our Road to Memphis "Youth Showcase" Finals on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at a Twin Cities "all ages" venue, TBA and judges will select a single solo, duo or band our society will sponsor. If you think you would like to sign-up for the Road to Memphis "Youth Showcase", please fill out the application form. The following lists qualifications to compete in the Road to Memphis "Youth Showcase":
- Individuals are not permitted to compete if their names have ever been included on a Blues Music Award (formerly Handy Awards) ballot. This does not apply to sidemen of these individuals.
- Membership in the Minnesota Blues Society is not required at this time, but eligibility to compete in the Finals of our Society's Road to Memphis Challenge "Youth Showcase" requires at least one musician from each act be a member of the Minnesota Blues Society at the time of the Finals.
